Amid circulating reports that Pat Mahomes Sr.—father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes—had an altercation with former Atlanta Braves pitcher John Rocker during Super Bowl LIX celebrations in New Orleans, both athletes have taken to social media with cryptic posts.

On February 11, Mahomes Sr., who played in the MLB for nine seasons with teams like the Minnesota Twins, Chicago Cubs, and New York Mets, posted a strong statement on X, writing, “John Rocker is a menace to society.”
Rocker quickly fired back with his own response, seemingly threatening Mahomes.
“Mahomes is lucky he got away,” Rocker wrote just hours later. “I would have Rocked him.”
Adding more fuel to the fire, Rocker followed up with another post on February 12, saying, “Well that was an interesting night.”
Bourbon Street Brawl or Promotional Stunt?
A video of the two former MLB players engaging in a heated argument on Bourbon Street went viral, sparking speculation about the nature of their feud. Some fans believe that the altercation and subsequent social media posts were actually staged to promote an upcoming boxing match between the athletes.
Barstool Sports’ Dave Portnoy weighed in on the controversy, confirming that Mahomes Sr. and Rocker will face off in the Rough N’ Rowdy boxing match on April 19.
Barstool Sports Confirms the Fight
“I don’t know if you saw the little beef on Bourbon Street,” Portnoy said in a video posted to X on February 12. “John Rocker and Pat Mahomes Sr. just going at it—almost broke out into a fight. I guess they f–king hated each other since their playing days—baseball.”
Portnoy continued by officially announcing the fight, revealing that both former players have signed contracts.
“They signed the f–king paperwork. This is real bad blood.”
Patrick Mahomes’ Connection to Barstool Drama
Interestingly, Portnoy extended an invitation to Patrick Mahomes and his crew to attend the fight. This comes after the Super Bowl-winning quarterback subtly jabbed at Barstool Sports during a pre-Super Bowl press conference.
“Patty Mahomes and crew, no bad blood,” Portnoy added. “We can make up and watch your dad fight. That’s an open invite. You say you don’t like us, I get your dad to fight John Rocker in Rough N’ Rowdy.”
As of now, neither Mahomes Sr. nor Rocker has directly confirmed whether their feud is genuine or part of a promotional stunt. E! News has reached out to their representatives for further clarification but has yet to receive a response.
