Serena Williams Stole the Show at Super Bowl 2025

On Sunday, Feb. 9, 65,719 fans packed Caesars Superdome in New Orleans to witness Super Bowl LIX. The Philadelphia Eagles dominated the Kansas City Chiefs with a 40-22 victory, but the real star of the night was Serena Williams.

While many tune in for the game, a large part of the audience is there for the halftime show, the commercials, and the unexpected moments. This year, Serena Williams delivered one of the most memorable surprises during Kendrick Lamar’s halftime performance. She took the stage for a brief but electrifying moment, dancing the iconic C-walk to his hit “Not Like Us.” The move was a callback to her 2012 Olympic victory, where she celebrated with the same dance after winning gold at Wimbledon. This time, she embraced the moment with humor, later joking on social media about how she would have been fined had she danced like that back then.

The halftime performance also had a subtle dig at rapper Drake, whom Lamar has been feuding with. Fans quickly connected Serena’s appearance to the long-standing rumors about her past relationship with Drake, further fueling the buzz around the performance.

Meanwhile, Taylor Swift was in attendance, supporting her boyfriend Travis Kelce and the Chiefs. Though she was shown enjoying the game with friends, she was met with some boos from the crowd when displayed on the Jumbotron. However, she remained composed, reacting with a slight laugh.

Former President Donald Trump, also at the game, later posted on social media claiming Swift was “booed out of the stadium” and that his supporters were “unforgiving.” However, Swift did not leave the game early, and the context of the moment was exaggerated. Trump also claimed he was cheered when shown on screen, though this occurred during the National Anthem, a moment generally met with applause.

Serena Williams quickly came to Swift’s defense, posting on social media: “I love you @taylorswift13 don’t listen to those boos!!” Her support further cemented her as a standout personality of the night.

Super Bowl 2025 was filled with unforgettable moments, but Serena Williams’ joyful energy, confidence, and support for her friend made her the true winner of the night—no trophy needed.
